About HealthConvos
Why we built HealthConvos.
We are applying decades of experience to help patients find clarity and understanding during their moments of greatest need.
Our experience
Good information is not always information people use.
Randall Tinfow has worked in corporate training for 42 years, much of it in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Yet when he has faced a diagnosis or procedure himself, he has almost never read the literature he was given. He turned to people he trusted and did his own research online.
Joy Lin is a software engineer who has spent 15 years creating video-centered solutions. Her work has focused on making video useful as an interactive medium, not simply something people sit back and watch.
An unexpected beginning
We developed the mechanism for another purpose.
When we showed it to people, they kept telling us the same thing: this would be ideal for patient education.
They recognized something that had guided our work for years. Learning becomes more useful when people move from passive consumers to active participants—when they can begin with their own question and receive the part of the story that matters at that moment.
That is why every HealthConvos clip is less than a minute long. These are bite-sized videos made for the way people actually pay attention, one question and one useful response at a time.
What changed our direction
Privacy made the difficult questions possible.
When we added clear privacy assurances, visits increased by more than 20%. The questions also became harder and more personal. That experience shifted our focus away from health-system data integration and toward empathy and follow-through for newly diagnosed people.
Questions are analyzed transiently for their intent and their fit with the response library. We retain the anonymous intent—not the full question or a patient profile—so we can learn what people need without creating a record of who asked.
Our aim is straightforward: create a low-cost-per-patient experience that people actually use.
